Vitesse Engineering Services have over 15 years of design and analysis experience. The company's speciality is automotive engine design, although we have experience of a wide variety of industries. We have experience of design projects at all levels, from on-site machine tool design for aerospace and nuclear applications to F1 engine R&D.

We can undertake design and engineering projects of any size, including project management.

We can undertake CAD work on your 3D CAD system at your premises if required. Currently we can offer Pro/Engineer, Catia V5, Unigraphics NX4 and Solidworks. Alternatively, we are able to work using our own fully licensed CAD software at our premises. Vitesse is, at present, only able to quote for Catia V5, Pro/Engineer and Solidworks, although we aim to increase this capability with a wider range of CAD systems. Please enquire about other CAD systems if you have this requirement.

CAD data can be supplied in ‘native’ CAD formats depending on the system being used, and we can additionally supply 2D and 3D data in universal formats such as pdf, dxf and iges.

Vitesse can also undertake Computational Fluid Dynamics. This is used to simulate fluid (gas, liquid or mixture) flows either internally or externally. CFD is a powerful tool allowing visualisation and measurement of fluids in motion. It can be used to good effect in minimising physical testing and reducing development time. It can quickly identify and resolve problems and can quickly lead to a better-optimised solution, thus avoiding much expensive, time-consuming physical testing involving trial and error.  The examples below show the paths that the air takes to various cylinders in a racing car intake system (left) and flow velocities around an intake valve in an engine cylinder.

At the moment we are able to quote based on a minimum of three months of work using our own licences of CATIA V5 or Pro/Engineer. Both of these packages can be additionally enhanced with their respective Finite Element Analysis (FEA) packages for stress calculations. A screen-shot from one of our FEA analyses of a crankshaft is shown below:

Vitesse has long experience of design for manufacture and design for assembly and we have good connections with manufacturing companies of the highest calibre. We are confident that we can find someone to make your new products cost-effectively and to a high standard, or to help you do this in-house. We take a keen interest in the latest manufacturing methods and so might be able to help you turn that clever idea into reality using new manufacturing technology. New manufacturing methods also allow faster product development and additionally make small batch manufacture more economically viable that it was only a few years ago.

We also have extensive materials knowledge gained from long experience in automotive design and design of special-purpose machinery for aerospace, sub-sea and nuclear applications. We can advise you on the correct choice of material, heat-treatment and surface treatment for your application, and can write materials /process sheets for you to use in your organisation.
Additionally we have access to excellent metallurgical facilities for material investigation and analysis. For development of new metallic materials and processes for special applications, we have excellent contacts who have this capability.
